and Scopus (www.scopus.com).
Citation data for papers published in polymer between volume 1 (1960) and volume
11 (1970) is not available in any of the world's existing databases.
Data on the most cited papers and most cited authors in polymer for the period 1971–2008
has been derived from the 1,000 most cited papers published in polymer in this period
using Thomson Reuters (ISI) citation data.
Often the number of citations based on data from Scopus and ISI are different. Scopus
covers citations from over 15,000 periodicals world–wide but contains complete citation
data only since 1996. Thomson Reuters (ISI) covers 8,500 periodicals world–wide
and citation data often extends further back in time (to 1971 for polymer).
